Yuk! They look half-mad and half-dead.
Yes, they are. It's what happens to procurers and buyers when they have to sit through a so-called 'carefully-crafted' sales proposition, probably - and predictably - in PowerPoint format.
Oh dear. But shouldn't a 'carefully-crafted whatever' turn them on, enlighten their lives, inspire them to do business?
Well, yes, it SHOULD. But what you and I think of as a 'carefully-crafted you-know-what' isn't what sales people produce in around 80% of cases.
80%! Wow, how do you know that?
'Cos I have analysed over 40 major sales campaigns in the last two years and 80% of them fail to engage, inspire or persuade. Result? Normal business audiences turn into zombies. But you and other sales professionals can avoid this.
Oh yeah? How?
Next time you 'carefully craft' your sales proposition, follow these five simple steps: 1. Write your proposition; 2. Put it in the bin; 3. Re-write it half the length; 4. Put that in the bin; 5. Re-re-write it half the length and present. You may not win any new business but at least that'll stop your audience turning into the undead.
